Very similar is Phidiana militaris. They can be distinguished by the line between the rhinophores: Phidiana indica has a white line on an orange head, Phidiana militaris has an orange or red line on a white head. Bill Rudman writes at the Sea Slug Forum: Phidiana indica is "also placed in the genera Learchis, Caloria, Hervia and Facelina by various authors. The correct generic placing cannot be resolved at present." This species was posted on 9 July 2003 at these websites as Phidiana indica (Bergh, 1896) [Learchis], WoRMS places it in the genus Caloria Trinchese, 1888 with the remark: basis of record Check List of European Marine Mollusca (CLEMAM), available online at http://www.somali.asso.fr/clemam/index.clemam.html, CLEMAM http://www.somali.asso.fr/clemam/biotaxis.php?X=26162 gives as reference: Zenetos, Gofas, Russo & Templado, 2004 : p. 204-205 CIESM Atlas of Exotic Molluscs in the Mediterranean, Zenetos, Gofas, Russo & Templado (2004) write on Caloria indica (Bergh, 1896): "Relevant Synonyms: Learchis indica Bergh, 1896, Phidiana indica (Bergh) [Israel].
