Lomanotus sp. 01 is characterized by its mottled brownish-tan colour. It has a single pair of oral tentacles, large mantle lobes and prominent papillae restricted to the lobes. I found all specimens on this kind of hydroid. This picture shows it together with Lomanotus sp. 02 which has red rhinophores and a whitish-cream mantle.
It was posted on 21 August 2003 at these websites as Lomanotus sp. A Genus: Vérany, 1844, and on 8 October 2011 changed into
Lomanotus sp. 01 Genus: Vérany, 1844.
For some genera, such as Trinchesia was the alphabet almost through. I had to change the distinguishing alphabetic character into a number. I had chosen 2-digit numbers, even though '01' looks a little bit stupid, and now is only the genus italic written.
